My magazine is based on general chart music and what songs are in the top charts as you can see this by my contents page with including the UK top 40. The type of music in the charts tends to be popular music and the most bought songs in the UK. Generally, the media shows the audience as people who are very over the top, dramatic and people who want to become exactly like their favourite artist. Although a research that has recently been carried out shows that people who listen to chart pop are generally outgoing, hard working, have a high self esteem and gentle but the negative thing to this is that it says they are not at ease. Research. Popular music tends to be like a happy type of music although this isn't always the case as there is artists that release the song that represents their album like Passenger who released a song about how you need everything when its gone and this relates to his album as it is about the things he see's and what his outlook on the world is.
History of chart music has changed quite a bit as the song that was number 1 in the 90's probably won't be similar to a song that is number today. Listening back through the music over the years most of the most popular songs have reoccurred in today charts due to the TV shows like the x factor and Britain's got talent but this has also changed the type of song depending on this singer. Also the fashion has changed with this as to the way the artist and fans dress. Depending on the year the fans have tried to copy from their idols and recreated the look they have seen them previously wearing and now we also have tribute acts who wants to be exactly like them by wearing wigs and remaking the same outfits from a while back like Elvis. their are many tribute acts for Elvis and I think this is because of how popular he was back then and this leads on to looking the same as him.
Destiny's child - 1997 Little Mix - 2013
Both these girl groups are from the same genre of music and age range but you can tell which one is the band from the 90's just by their clothing as back then the groups tended to dress in the same material or repeat the same type of design on each member whereas today each member has their own unique style which is also incorporated in their music.
I think that the positives of chart music is that there is a meaning to a song like 'Little Me' by Little Mix, if you listen to the lyrics it says that if they could go back they would tell themselves to speak up and change slightly the actions they took when they were little and as we know they have some younger fans and as they progress listening to this it could be a way for them to maybe stop bullying or think about the things there are about to do/ A study shows that american youth listen to music/watch music video 4-5 hours a day which is more time than they spend with friends and watching TV and can also alters study habits. Study.
